“Na’shaya Cadet Las,” Sapeth said inclining his head. “Your pronunciation was adequate, though I would pay attention to your choice of words. Tonk’peh is an informal greeting, not necessarily appropriate for greeting your new superior officer.”

He turned his attention back to the team working on the magnetic constrictor. “Once your recalibration is complete, please uploaded the final report to my attention.”

That completed, he turned his attention to Cadet Las. “Welcome aboard the Challenger Cadet, I hope you had a pleasant trip to the Challenger,” he said leading the way to his office. Once they entered he indicated towards the chair in front of his desk, as he took a seat behind the immaculate desk.

“Its funny, up until 72 hours ago, I imagined ships had a subtle sway to them but all I ever feel is the vibration of the engine if I’m close enough.” Cadet las said taking purchase on the chair. “I noticed you have a lot of space on your desk. Perfect for the particular gift i’ve brought.” Kiasees burrowed into her pack and retrieved a vine like plant. It whipped aggressively at the cadet.

“Its a Betazed plant. Pretty sure it hates me.” Cadet Las said, presenting a nearly unwieldy pot.

Sapeth raised an eyebrow as the Cadet brought out the plant. “Indeed. What sort of plant is it? I don’t believe I’m familiar with this particular variety.”

He wasn’t really sure what to think of the plant, and he wasn’t going to try and understand why the Cadet had thought to best carry it in her pack.

Kiasees placed the potted plant on the desk. A particularly long vine refused to let go of her arm. “My mother is a botanist. I’ll have to ask her about it. She told me I needed a gift for my direct superior. I snagged it from her lab. Honestly, I’m surprised it survived the trip.”
