USS Challenger

Main Sim - Bridge

The XO’s voice came over the bridge’s comm. =^= Runabout to the Bridge. We’re leaving Challenger. Will report once we see how it reacts. =^=

Shortly afterwards, the bridge’s system would show a runabout leaving the shuttle bay, and heading towards the other ship, but not on a direct line of sight between Challenger and the other ship. The runabout came to a rest shortly afterwards.

-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO

=/\= Acknowledged, Commander. =/\=

Emmy rotated herself back to look at the view screen, with its focus on the other ship. “Have the transporter operator keep a lock on the Commander and the others,” she instructed Anders swiftly as she studied the screen to see what would happen.

Anders turned to the young cadet, “I’ll keep everything going on the console while you get everything sorted with Sapeth.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Dael felt a wave of relief as he sensed the receptiveness to his idea. You’re doing great Dael… now you just got to make sure it works “Aye Captain.” was what the cadet could get out as he started to look over Anders’ console once more trying to hide the nerves and excitement he was. Your first duty on the bridge, let’s keep this ball rolling as they say. “Thank you, Lieutenant, maybe we can start looking at some flashing probes or if you can get a torpedo to just flash and not react to the plasma we’ll release it may possibly give us some extra communication skills. I just hope that whatever we’re sending out doesn’t look like an insult.” Dael then tapped his commbadge.
=^= Cadet Stadi to Lt. Sapeth, the Captain was looking for options to mimic the colorful display that this… vessel is emitting as a possible way of communication. I suggested using the ramscoops to take in the surrounding hydrogen as they’re intended but rather than send it to the engines to be filtered for fuel, we flush it back out with some of our spent plasma to make that colorful display. But I’m not sure how the situation is progressing down in Engineering, if you think the systems can handle it with our current repairs going on, the Captain is on board.=^=

-Cadet Stadi, Engineering

=^= Definitely an interesting concept Cadet. Repairs to the warp core should be complete in approximately 8 minutes, with the all of the repairs being completed within the hour. I recommend that the shields around the nacelles are reinforced, in case of inadvertent detonation of the expelled hydrogen. I’m currently waiting for an update on the shield repairs and when they will be complete. =^=

Lt Sapeth - CE

Davis, CO
=^=Understood sir,=^= Dael said as he gave a nod towards Lt. Anders and moved to the Engineering console on the bridge behind them. =^= I will start getting the system prepped and redirect some of the shields power around the nacelles. If I recall correctly, some of the forward field generators were damaged but I can compensate for that with the undamaged ones near the nacelles. Once the warp core is in full working order we shouldn’t have any problems flushing the ramscoops and I’ll have them ready and waiting once that’s the case.=^=

Dael made some inputs into the Engineering console, essentially getting the ramscoops ready for their collection task, and having a readout of the warp core’s status so that he was ready once the system was fully operational. He made a few quick key entries to essentially reverse the process and re-route some of the spent plasma vents to instead use the ramscoops on his command. “That should do it…” he said looking at the screen in front of him. He glanced over to Kyle, “Lieutenant, from your tactical console, can you make sure we’ve got full shields around the nacelles? I’m going to work on reinforcing them a bit while the warp core is getting ready for our light show.”

A few more key inputs, and he had another smaller tab open on his screen for the shield distribution. He saw the still damaged and lower powered areas towards the front of the ship from the prior damage, and made sure to try and pull from the graviton generators that were undamaged to strengthen the field surround the nacelles. “Once the warp core is back to full strength I think we should have everything in the clear, sirs.” he said back to the Bridge crew.

“I like you’re thinking lad,” Kyle said as his hands flew across the console, “Captain, I can have the probe ready in two minutes.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Emmy offered a curt nod of acknowledgment. “Do it,” she instructed, keeping her eyes on the view screen to monitor the progress of the shuttle. “Inform the Commander of the plan so that he is aware of the probe launching.”

Davis, CO

“Confirmed, max shields around the nacelles. I can boost the power when you need it.” Kyle tapped his combadge, “=/\= Anders to Commander Holmann, Cadet Stadi and I are attaching a probe to a photon torpedo to see if we can get our new friend to follow it around. Keep an eye out. =/\=”
