Kyle stood up right, “Captain,” he called to Davis, “Engineering reports we’ll be back to optimum efficiency within two hours, I’ve offered Cadet McIntyre’s services to try and speed up the process.”

The spinning of her head having gradually given in to the inertia generated by her professionalism, Aili had become more steady and resilient looking at her station.

“Understood, Lieutenant,” Emmy responded simply, keeping her gaze on the view screen.

The helm nodded and slowly started to increase the speed of the impulse engines, smoothly nudging forward towards the other ship.

The other ship back peddled a a moment drifting a moment before puffing out the multicolored plasma behind itself. Slowly it drifted along until she other ship was broadside to the challenger. The helm looked back over his shoulder, “Ma’am, the other ship seems be wanting to escort us? I am not sure what is going on right now. I can’t seem to shake it.”

Kyle leaned in, “I recommend we keep the shields up and go to Yellow Alert ma’am, we don’t want any uninvited guests.”

Emmy raised an eyebrow at the Chief of Security. “What guests would we have, Lieutenant? The scans were negative for life signs.” She turned to the helms officer, “try evasive pattern beta-six-upsilon. See if they follow us through that.”

“True,” Anders said pointedly, “But we don’t know that they aren’t masking their life signs somehow. If not that, the only method I can think of is some form of remote piloting.” Kyle knew that he could be overthinking, but it was the job of the Chief of Security to think of every eventuality.
