“Hmmm. Maybe a higher ranking officer need to activate it.
I am guessing we need some type of alphanumeric to access whatever is in here. It must contain restricted information.” She thought for a second. “I don’t see the harm in attempting to more times to see who is the flag officer who would be notified. I hate to say it.....but maybe we should notify Commander Harkness and let him try. He has a higher rank.”

“I don’t know if either you or I should try our personal command codes?” He suggested thoughtfully.

“We could try. The worst case would be if they didn’t work and the Commander’s does not work either, it would alert a “Flag Officer”. I would like to know who that is.”

What if it’s a trap and the borg find out where we are.

Griffth,Cadet.

“I doubt very much that it will alert the Borg,” Science NE Rutherford interjects without being addressed, “Our course takes us no where near Borg space. No if it is a trap it will be to alert the Romulans. Think about it: This Fleet Captain is half Romulan, right? Maybe he has been passed over for an Admiral post and is bitter? Maybe he wants to be seen as a big hero by saving the day. I dunno. Got a funny feeling about that guy.”

It took a few minutes for Max to make his way back to the Science Lab, he was wrapping up some business on the bridge. Thankfully it wasn’t that far to the lab.

“Where you able to figure out anything about what we are transporting?” he asked as he walked through the door.

Cmdr. Harkness - XO

Gordon nodded. “A little, it looks to be star fleet in origin, but requires authorization to activate or otherwise gain access to it. I tried but I am of insufficient rank to proceed. It also says that if we keep trying and failing to access it, it will notify a flag officer.” He explained to the XO, somewhat amused by this device.

Surra crossed her arms. “So should we try to activate this thing? This would be attempt number two. If this fails we have one last try before we find out who is the flag officer.”

The science NEs and NCs just chill out waiting for further orders.

GM Wombat.

Max nodded. “Did it give any information on what level of clearance is needed to access it? If it’s going to notify a flag officer, it’s likely someone with higher clearance then we have on this ship is needed to access the device. Though I’m sure I can guess who it would notify.”

Im just nervous will it self distruct

“At ease, Cadet”, Surra said to Griffth. “If it were going to self distruct it would have by now with all the tampering we have done. It did not give specific clearance info, Commander, only that our rank was not sufficient. Who do you think the flag officer is Commander? Maybe he is the key. “

Surra thought to herself, Whenever StarFleet hides information it is never good. Dangerous, in fact.

“I am starting to believe it may be in our best interest to not unlock what is inside. We are a ship full of cadets. Whatever information that is contained in there could put us all at risk.”

Almikaz-CSO

“Well we had an Admiral that sent on this mission to deliver this object. I’m guessing it is either him, or the person it is intended to be delivered to that it would alert.”

Max looked at the container for a bit.

“Lieutenant, I am in agreement. Normally I’m all for exploring the unknown, and jumping first and asking questions later. But for some reason I’m getting a weird feeling about this one.”

The NE in charge slowly starts to stand down the testing apparatus as the XO and CSO seem to have made their decision regarding continuing testing on the great box. “Hey Grif,” one says to Griffith, “Mind handing me that cable there? Just unhook it and hand it to me. Should be all good.”

Surra looked at the NE and said, “What do intend on doing with that cable?”
Then she crossed her arms. “We have been mess8ng with this thing long enough. Its time for a new approach. Anyone know how long until we get to our destination?”

The NE looks a little dumbfounded as he eyes the CSO carefully, “It is a cable that is attached to the testing harness. You wanted us to detach the harness…” He looks confused a moment, “I can put it back if you would like.”

GM Wombat

Surra looked at the NE. “Why are you looking at me like I confused you? And did I specifically tell you to disconnect anything?” She snapped. “I am trying to figure out what to do next. Can everyone just wait until you have a specific order?” She took a deep breath then said mostly to herself as she began to think outloud. “Now lets look at all the facts. Obviously we have some type of communication device…Star-Fleet origin....maybe to deliver a message, confidential message that required a high ranking official, but that does not explain the contents of zinc, silica, ethyl acetate, carbon, isopropyl and amyl alcohol, butanol, as well as copper. Still seems like some type of fuel cell. It must be powering the device so the message can be delivered.”
She took the cord from the NE then looked at everyone in the room as she spoke, “I am going to go do some research and see what is in the archives regarding a device like this one. I will let you what I find. My science officers are dismissed for now. However stay close for further orders.”
