T’Mor had just ungracefully exited the turbo lift onto deck 9. Over one shoulder carrying an unwieldy 50 lb bag of soil, and in the other arm several long and delicate tube-shaped UVB lights. With the most dignity she could muster T’Mor wobbled down the hall. Ideally she could to get this errand over with quickly, hopefully without disturbing anyone. On the way she figuratively, and thank goodness not literally, ran into the other two Cadets.
Cadet T’Mor, Science Department
Kyle had to catch himself on a deck panel to stop himself from landing on his rear end. After hoisting himself back to his feet, he smiled, “On a bit of a late one Mr. Riley,” he teased, then he noticed T’Mor, “Oh, ey up, you must be T’Mor? Matt’s told me a lot about you.”
-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-
Riley opened his mouth to answer but was interrupted as Kyle greeted the Vulcan science cadet. Matthew looked behind himself, seeing her overburdened journey down the hallway. “Woah,” he said, approaching her, tucking the PADD under one arm. “Let me help with that.”
“This,” he nodded toward the security cadet, “is Kyle… Anders, right?” he asked, glancing back again. “He’s a security cadet.” He looked back to T’Mor. “And ‘a lot’ is an exaggeration,” he continued, rolling his eyes. “I just mentioned we’d met in the lab.”
“Looks like we’re all having a late night.” He extended his hands and asked “Now, what do you want me to carry? And where are we going?”
- Cadet Riley, Science
Kyle nodded at Riley’s assumption and helped him pick up some of the things that Cadet T’Mor had dropped, “If you’re heading back to your quarters, I can follow you for a while, I need to patrol that area tonight.”
-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-
T’Mor stood quietly for a moment, as what was a small night-time errand had now suddenly involved two others. It was not in her custom to inconvenience others to ask for help, but since they had offered she was admittedly grateful.
“Yes, Cadet Riley,” she said, “It would be useful if you were to carry these.” T’Mor indicated the bulbs tucked it her arm. Cautiously she loosed her grip to allow him the take them. While she recognized Cadet Riley from the lab, it took a moment for her to remember where she had seen Anders.
“We’ve met before,” she said, turning toward Cadet Anders, “I believe you were the security officer assign to investigate the-” she stopped herself, “Perhaps we should not discuss it out in the open. I was indeed heading to my quarters, I needed a few supplies for an experiment I am running.”
Cadet T’Mor, Science Department
“Please,” Riley replied, adjusting his grip on the long bulbs, trying to balance both their length and their weight, “call me Matthew.” He eyed the bag of soil, but realized her Vulcan physiology was probably more than adequate for that task.
“So UV lights and soil… what will you be growing?”
- Cadet Riley, Science
Kyle couldn’t help but laugh, “Ahh, this reminds me of Biochemstry classes at the Academy, one of the ones I nearly passed. Good times.”
-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-
OOC: I hope its ok if I join.
IC:Electra had been walking to her room when she came across the odd scene before her. Seeing the items everyone was carrying she couldn’t help but think ‘Is everyone on this ship obsessed with plants?’ The Bajoran walked a bit closer to the group and said, “I hope I’m not interrupting anything too important but I was told I should try and meet others stationed on the Challenger. I see this ship has a love of plants, uh anyway I’m Electra, I’m a new cadet here. ” She paused for a moment before adding, “Can I be of any assistance?” She said as she straightened her stance.
-Cadet Electra Tamar
OOC: The more the merrier!
IC: Riley paused and blinked. A love of plants? he thought, then looked at what each of them was carrying. A loud laugh broke from his throat.
“Boy, I bet we do make quite a sight,” he chuckled. “I’m Matthew, and I for one love meeting new people. I would shake your hand, but…” He shrugged, moving the bulbs he was carrying.
”… plants,” he giggled.

OC: Figured we could use someone from each department for this posts bingo
IC: Dael pressed the access panel on the interior side of the Jeffries Tube. He had taken some preventive maintenance shift work to get more familiar with the systems. Only downside was that meant he had to pull a few late nights when those systems weren’t in use. He tossed out the toolkit in front of him into the hallway, then eased his way out of the tube cradling the power coupling he had replaced.
He reached down to grab the toolkit when his mind rushed with thoughts filled levity and warmth, and he realized in his focus to crawl out of the tube hatch, he hadn’t seen the group coming his way. Glancing up from his kit he saw he was in fact right on top of them, and hoped his absent minded tossing of said kit hadn’t almost hit one of them.
“I’m so sorry, I got caught up in my work and… Sorry, I swear I’m usually more aware of thought spaces around me… ” he took a breath to try and slow down. You want to try and connect with shipmates Dael, not annoy them. “I’m Dael… I mean Cadet Dael Stadi, pleasure to meet you and hopefully not hit you.” He started to try and extend his hand in a greeting but the bulky power coupling in his hand reminded him that both hands were already occupied.
-Cadet Stadi, Engineering
OOC: Hoo boy, this is gonna be fun!
IC:
Kyle smiled and helped the Engineering Cadet straighten himself, before extending his own hand, “Kyle Anders, Security. Allow me to introduce a good friend of mine, Matthew Riley, and this is Cadet T’Mor.” He gestured for the group to continue walking down the corridor.
-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-
OOC: We got ourselves a party.
IC:
Riley plastered the fakest smile onto his face at his name and tilted his head back in acknowledgement. He looked around at the gathering of cadets.
“Well,” he began, “if we’re all here now…” He paused, continuing to look about. “Who’s working the day shift?”
Yeah, that one is a bomb, he thought, and mentally groaned. Why did I even say that? Because you have poor executive function, he reminded himself. Sometimes your filter isn’t as active as it should be.
