“Now there’s something I miss from Earth, my aunt’s dogs. I’ve grown up with two labradors,” Kyle said, reminicising about wandering through the fields on his Aunt’s farm with the dogs in quick step.

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

Riley grinned at the look on the other cadet’s face. “Old friends, eh? We didn’t have dogs. My dad had an iguana.” He made a face. “They aren’t great pets. They require a ton of care. But,” he continued, his face softening, “he was fun to play with as a kid.” He got the same far-off look Kyle had. “His name was Ichabod. Ichabod the Iguana,” he laughed.

“What were your aunt’s dogs named?” he asked, flagging down a server for dessert.

Kyle gave a soft reminiscent laugh, “Lola and Riley. They were six months when I left for the Academy, they’ll probably be around a year and a half now. I’ll have to visit next time we head home. Ichabod… Ichabod, where have I heard that name before?”

Riley’s eyes widened and he jerked his head back slightly. He slowly grinned, then turned to the server. “Could I get a flan, please?” then gestured for Anders to order if he wanted to.

As the server walked away, Riley continued. “Riley’s a good name,” he grinned. “And you must read old literature. There’s an old story from where my dad grew up called The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The main character is Ichabod Crane.” He laughed. “It’s 600 years old.”

Kyle clicked his fingers, “Ah, that’s it. I knew I’d heard the name somewhere. And what a strange coincidence, surprised I didn’t notice before.”
