Hilo frowned harder than before, his bushy eyebrows tilting dramatically downwards. “It seems our culprit keeps adding advanced espionage skills to their repertoire.” He looked back over his shoulder at Holmman and Davis. “First the cameras, then the access to sickbay, now the ability to tamper with complicated medical technology. This tricorder has in fact been altered, but for what reason I have no idea. If any other tricorder would confirm that Commander Holmman was drugged, why try to trick him specifically with his own tricorder?” Although it was possible that Holmman had tampered with it himself, of course, it would have been unwise for him to think that any other person with a tricorder wouldn’t check his results with a device of their own. Hilo was certainly entertaining a healthy and reasonable level of suspicion for Holmman, but things weren’t adding up, in a way that made it seem less and less likely that he was responsible. The problem was still that there were currently no other suspects, no other leads, and no motive at all.

=^= Rainns to Davis, I may have another suspect for you Captain, somebody else’s DNA has been found at the crime scene. However I still recommend Holmman is confined and closely monitored.=^=
Lt. Jg. Joseph Rainns- COS
“Well, I’m glad I’m to hear Lieutenant Rainns hasn’t totally forgotten about me,” Eric said, trying to add some humour into the situation…
“There is a pattern,” Eric said to the others. “Clearly, the changes to the secondary systems were to cover up what led to Ensign Pey’s death and to avoid anyone from paying to much attention. But… the tricorder in these quarters may be the biggest clue. I scanned myself not to long after being confined to the guest quarters. So if the tricorder was modified somehow, it was either by someone who knew I was going to be in these quarters, or who was able to interfere with the tricorder very quickly without me discovering it…”
Eric turned to Davis. “Sorry, Captain, that doesn’t necessarily eliminate me as a suspect - but I do think we need to see if Engineering can identify how the tricorder scans were modified.”
-Cmdr. Eric Holmman, XO
Emmy was still rolling her eyes at Holmman’s joke when he turned to her. “I think it does eliminate you as a suspect, although I suppose you could have an accomplice.” She kept her face completely neutral as she eyed him for a few moments, before finally smirking slightly. “I’ve seen enough to say that you are no longer confined to quarters, Commander. Let’s take your equipment down to Engineering and see what we can figure out. Hopefully they can pull the logs on your replicator usage, too.”
Without waiting for a response from the other two officers, Emmy once again began to stride toward the door to the guest quarters. She paused before them for a moment and then looked back to see if the others were following as she responded to the comm call:
=/\= Understood, Lieutenant. Combined with the information that I have obtained, which you will receive in a report shortly, I am clearing the Commander for full duty. Please update me on your new suspect as soon as you know something. =/\=
Davis, CO
Hilo’s mouth parted slightly as he started to protest, then closed it again firmly. He handed the tricorder over to Holmman wordlessly.
The counselor waited for the other two senior officers to leave the quest quarters, then took a long breath in and out. He closed his eyes and rubbed the risian symbol on his forehead in thought. Then, the counselor headed to his office, intending to make some individual calls to cadets on the ship who were likely scared and mourning the death of their friend.
