Anders pointed out and rolled up his sleeve, “This scar is still healing from a phaser burn I got breaking up a fight when I assisted Lieutenant Rainns on that Diplomatic Mission to Amtre IV a few weeks back. I know that’s not from a party, but it’s about as exciting as my shifts have got as of late.”

-Cadet Kyle Anders: Security-

“Oof,” Riley said, his face scrunching. “That’s way more excitement than I need,” he chuckled.

• Cadet Riley, Science

“Tell me about it,” Kyle laughed, “What about Science? Anything fun to report?”

Riley grinned, then shook his head. “There’s stuff I would consider fun, like analyzing the composition of a star’s chromosphere. Today was a lot of chemical analysis.” He furrowed his brow. “I should really brush up on my chemistry. Always been my weak area.”

He continued to think for a minute, then his face brightened as he grinned. “There were these plants we cataloged on my last cruise. I’m nearly certain one aspect of the plant was a a trait they evolved that made them better carnivores; a little too successful. In the area we found these plants there were no animals larger than dogs.” He shrugged. “My supervising officer disagreed with me, as the plants in their current state were no longer carnivorous. No one else could venture an explanation for that trait, though.”

He looked back to Kyle and laughed. “Again, stuff I would consider fun.”
