The USS Challenger in the Academy fleet currently has a vacancy for a counselor (CNS). This command-level position guides new members to develop their character’s backstory and personality through their introductory psychological evaluation thread. You must be able to post at least once every three days as well as handle multiple timelines at once as there will frequently be several new members onboarding at once. CADET requires that you must have held the position of DH on either a mainstream ship or an Academy ship for a minimum of three months.

For people with the interest in helping out in the Academy, this is an awesome way of doing it. I graduated from the Academy so long ago, we were still on effwebb. I was Chief Engineer on the Columbia when I was asked if I was interested in the role. I said yes please, and I remained in the role for a long time. It was a wonderful experience working with the Cadets (and newly graduated Lt JG Department Heads) to help them generate their backstories and give them little challenges to work on while they were at it (Gene Gibbs’ newly minted Chief Engineer for example had to work out how the Counselor caused replicators to shoot out icecreams in random directions, and he developed sprained wrists and ankles for medical cadets on an all too frequent occasion. Plus on one occasion, I got to (secretly) play the mirror universe version of the Counselor … with the ‘real’ counselor held captive, to say the crew were surprised, would be an understatement.

So, I just wanted to encourage anyone who meets the requirements as per Sarah’s post above (and CADET), and who wants to help shape some of the newest members of the club, to consider the role. Counselor was my favourite role in the Academy.
